Bibiji: In the beginning I must thank Dr. Satya Paul Kaur who really put me across as if I am a genius, which I’m not. I’m just a human being but I have been working very hard. Probably I suffered through pains in my childhood, to cut them off I had to take refuge in poetry, which I did without knowing without understanding. I started writing (?) I can’t answer your questions. When I became aware I was already a know poet. That was the grace of God. So once you are one step automatically you take the second and the third, the fourth, if you don’t slip up. So I did not slip up that is God’s grace again. That is what is now bringing me back to DharmaDharma A path of righteous living. It is both an ideal of virtue and a path of action that is infused with clear awareness and comprised of actions that are the soul in total synchrony with the universe. It is action without reaction or karma. apart from my activities. So spiritual I always was, because without being spiritual you cannot write poetry. Poetry in essence is spiritual expression.

I started talking about poetry, I wanted to talk about women, about ourselves. I feel when I had been here for four-three weeks in the New Mexico and I saw you are Samskrits and I have been watching you in your camp I think you are very lucky. You are so lucky I went over the programs, which you had, various nine or ten. I was here on the day of orientation. I think really if one can achieve all that. That makes you a complete woman, which is very difficult. But once you are a complete woman then you are a God. And if you go on this is the (?) I think if you go on, you are so self-reliant self assured self sufficient. These are the qualities of God. And you are really lucky and we need to be like because we are women. Woman is a mother, a daughter, a wife, a grandmother, a sister. So many relationships we have to maintain them in a very precarious balance. And if we don’t then what happens you all know better than I do.

If we slip up then the family breaks away. The children run away, the husbands go from woman to woman. And we ourselves also do the same thing. I think if a woman can make this world. I mean only a woman can make this world beautiful, a place worth living. Man is so helpless he is like a child. He is insecure, I’m not trying to minimize his importance, but I’m trying to say the fact. The moment they cut the cord from the mother from the same very moment he starts feeling insecure because we had in our wombs the source of life we are creative being, they are not. We have source of love hid in us. They have not. They are so insecure the moment they are alone. They will like to be somebody else. Does not matter who. Good or bad, right or wrong. Sometimes in the west I think woman have done so cruel. They are doing him even now they want to be alone. They don’t want to face themselves. It was not always so (?). This was not always so.

You know when we were in a agricultural society man and woman. They were working together at all levels, if they were in the fields they were together, if they were at home they were together. They were raising children they were together, looking after that cattle they were together. While building a barn they were together. But when the industrial like society came into being in the mid eighties I think that was the parting time. Man went out early in the morning taking his lunch with him to work in the factory and woman stayed behind to look after the children, washed clothes and they became resentful. And man became bitter because when he came home, he wanted company, and she was so tired being alone and frustrated that she wanted to go out with him. And he said no I’m too tired, we will just stay at home and she says oh.

So that was the first time I think men we had a quarrel between man and we and it went on and on became more complicated. He lost his values and she lost her values and the family broke up. And we in the sixties you must remember probably just remember it. It is still going on, the movement of liberation we wanted liberation, we wanted equality. Legal equality in India we have, I don’t know about you, I think you have. We have perfect legal equality with the man. To inherit property of father, to have the right to work, to earn my livelihood, to do everything I have. To divorce, to marry, whatever I like. But my society is too rigid. I won’t be able to do it if I want to, there are so many pressures, but not here. You don’t have those pressures. There are different problems here and different in the east. But I am talking of this movement of liberation we had so many slogans that we want equality. And we had to pay for it that men stopped getting up from the seats to give us a seat in a bus even when we were ill. They stopped opening the car doors for us, which was very arrogant. All these things, but I think there is nobody free in the world. There is nothing like freedom. What is freedom I don’t understand. Freedom has to be within yourself.

If you liberate yourself from within you are liberated. You must not we must not all women, because I’m talking about us. We have to create an equilibrium of forces in which we can exist, our children can live happily and grow without fear. In my lifetime I have seen one World War that was Second World War. You probably haven’t seen that. Some of you haven’t seen it. And I have seen the partition of my country into Pakistan and India. I have been reading about war in Korea. I know about war in Vietnam. I know what is happening in Afghanistan. I know what is happening in Iran. And how the whole world is in turmoil now. And if we don’t stop we don’t know what will happen to our children. The scars left on our minds, our souls, the pain, which we went through, when the country was divided. The relatives, which we left behind never to see them again. The homes, which we lost, I think we don’t want to repeat it again. We do believe in peace we want to live in peace. Yet the forces let us live in peace. And I think a mother can do in lot in this sphere.

Even the clash between man and woman, which comes on every step it comes even if we want to avoid it, we are not saints. We are human beings made of Panch TattvasTattvas A category of cosmic existence; a stage of reality or being; a "thatness" of differentiated qualities. In total there are 36 tattvas. Each wave of differentiation has its own rules and structure. The final five tattvas are called the gross elements and have the phasic qualities and relationships of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. . We realized, anger is there, ego is there, frustration is there, unfulfillment is there. So we are not saints, we are not angels that we will forgive and forget we might forget they will never forgive that is our nature. But we can if we start the right way with our child specially the son. That is the way to be equal to man. God is not pleased, is He pleased? We call up on Him twenty-four hours of the day doesn’t matter whether He sleeps or awakeful. We really wake Him up. Listen to us, we are in pain, we are in trouble, we are at problem, please solve it for us we pray, we never look at the watch whether it is exact in time. We do take care when our mother is asleep not to wake her up. We take care my husband is resting, therefore nobody should ring up try to put off all the telephones. So that nobody, nobody rings up and no noise is made. But God, no, never. Whenever we want we knock the door and we knock loudly. We ask Him to answer our problems straightaway sometimes He does straightaway solve it in a very subtle way, which we don’t understand.

So freedom let’s forget about the slogans of freedom and I have read about some pros going processions here in America that women wanted freedom, they wanted to be equal and institution of marriage and family, is no good for us. But I think that is the only way to be able to be free and to live a perfected life. When do we have relationships, which are lasting, which don’t get absorbed in air and that can be created by woman only. Man is only a toy in our hands.

Let us believe so, he is a toy in our hands. The other day at the country side when I spoke I was full of emotion Yogiji said something and I am a very emotional being, being a poet and I can’t…, he repeated I don’t remember exactly what it was but I have received many letters from you. I have received many messages that you appreciated that. Now there is a little secret in that sort of feeling, if you try to know your man. If you try to know the person whom you love and that’s a great thing they don't love. Man may not say may not believe in it. He says, what is love? That sexual feeling for half an hour. Maybe fifteen minutes for him that is all. For us that is not enough. That is only a expression of love. For us love is something, which is very stable and that stability that even if a man tries to break it, yet it will not be broken. That should be our determination. It is easy to walk out, difficult to walk in, once the door is closed behind us.

So you know, we in India are told when we get married the last words of my mother and father was, “You are going as a bride, go get out of that house as a dead body on the shoulder of your husband.” And that is what we always remember. So many things in life happen where you don’t agree with each other. You don’t really see eye to eye maybe while you are bringing up children. Maybe when they go to school and you want to drift you are drifting on. Which school they go to. When they are getting married and so many other things whether you are going to see a picture or watch movie or not. Whether you want to listen to music or not. So many little things in everyday life routine life which are irritant to us or to them also.

But if we handle those situations well, that door of the family it is not ours only to close because we have children. And if we have no children then we have parents, and if we have no parents then we have friends. We must look all around and see whether all these people will be hurt, if I take this step. I should forget myself as a woman because I am the creator. Remember we are back again. Creator does not get angry. He may get angry but does not destroy. We must not destroy and relationships are like very, very delicate steps. And that as man is always all. Always ready to break because his tension nature is like a butterfly he likes to go to every flower. Let, him he will come back I’m quite sure, because he needs sense of security, he needs an easy chair at home and don’t mind being that.

Sometimes I taunt my husband, oh you have come back because I’m an easy chair, because you know I understand you and you will have comfortable time. Oh he laughs I know that. It is such a situation that all of us can laugh. A man never goes away if you can keep him and if unfortunately if that time comes when you people cannot keep him then look around and see who can help you to keep him. And why we keep him. Why should we keep him? You ask this question. Why should we keep him because we love him. First of all we chose him to love him. Why should we marry him? We married him, because we love him the best of them all. These are the steps we had to go because you know the best man in the world so he is the only man in the world first. There is no other. I cannot look at a man and feel that he is a man, only my husband he is sitting here so I can’t talk (?) my apology.

But it is a fact when you love once, I don’t say you can’t love again. Love is a flowing river, you can love, but love without sensuality, sexuality. You can establish such great spiritual relationship, which I have had in my life very well. I have respected and loved very many great men in the world actually. My friends if I count I count them amongst the kings, among is a yogisYogi One who has attained a state of yoga (union) where polarities are mastered and transcended. One who practices the disciplines of yoga and has attained self-mastery. , among is a poets. You know internationally I can count so many and I think that he really knows them.
